We're taking a break on Wednesday evenings this summer.
All regular Wednesday night activities  will resume in August at our Fall Kick-Off.

This summer, let's get intentional!

This summer at Philadelphia Baptist Church we are getting intentional about growth as an individual, a family, and a church.  As we take a break from normal Wednesday evening activities we encourage everyone to take this opportunity as a time of personal growth. Below you will find a number of resources and select events to help you do just that.  We look forward to what the Lord will do when we get intentional.

We all get into growth ruts. ... Maybe you got into a routine, and it became an easy place to stay so you didn’t try to break out of it—even if it started to lead you down the wrong path. .... Remember, growth doesn’t just happen.  And the sooner you start taking steps to be more intentional in your growth, the better off you’ll be.

The Me I Want to Be
Andrew Barber
(by John Ortberg) Why does spiritual growth seem so difficult? God's vision for your life is not just that you are saved by grace, but that you also learn to live by grace, flourishing with the Spirit flowing through you. And this book will show how God's perfect vision for you starts with a powerful promise: All those who trust in God "will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit" (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
The Cost of Discipleship
Andrew Barber
(by Dietrich Bonhoeffer) One of the most important theologians of the twentieth century illuminates the relationship between ourselves and the teachings of Jesus What can the call to discipleship, the adherence to the word of Jesus, mean today to the businessman, the soldier, the laborer, or the aristocrat? What did Jesus mean to say to us? What is his will for us today? Drawing on the Sermon on the Mount, Dietrich Bonhoeffer answers these timeless questions by providing a seminal reading of the dichotomy between "cheap grace" and "costly grace."
WORSHIP MATTERS

Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy

One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer - a pastor and author, known as much for such spiritual classics as The Cost of Discipleship and Life Together as for his 1945 execution in a concentration camp for his part in the plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler.
