Buried Treasure or Trash?!
This episode previews the July 5 small group lesson and continues the summer prayer push by urging prayer for the country: revival, wisdom and salvation for national leaders, and protection for military members and their families. Evan and Justin then study Joshua 7:10–23, where Israel’s defeat at Ai and the death of 36 men is traced to Achan secretly taking devoted spoils from Jericho in disobedience to God’s command. They discuss how sin, especially hidden sin, affects others, damages morale, and can distort unbelievers’ view of Jesus when Christians don’t live repentantly. Achan’s delayed confession highlights the futility of hiding sin from God and the difference between being caught and true repentance. They encourage vigilance in seasons of victory and emphasize accountability, confession, and Christian community (James 5:16; Hebrews 10:24–25) as guardrails to bring darkness into the light.
